Work from Internships, Academics, and Commitment to Civic Engagement

This section highlights the various work that I have produced that are most relevant to my career as a curator/exhibit designer.  It includes various research papers, projects from both my courses and internships, and an example of how I have contributed to civic engagement.  this all shows the kind of work that I want to do in museums and who I am as a future museum professional.

Internship Work

This sections shows some of the work that was done during my internship at the Herron School of Art + Design.  This includes some miscellaneous shots of work accompanied with other documents created for the various exhibits, specifically the Mind's I and Tarik carroll exhibits.  I created documents of scaled versions of the walls in one of the galleries.  These were used with scaled versions of the pieces being exhibited to where my mentor would be able to move them around and arrange them throughout the gallery space.  Also with the Mind's I exhibit, I was responsible for creating a grid system for the pieces that would be created with this interactive exhibit.  This shows some of the work that I was personally responsible for and what the outcomes of this work were.

Academic Work

This section highlights the various assignments that were done throughout my academic career in IUPUI's Museum Studies Program.  It includes relevant assignments from my collections courses, exhibit planning and design course, and other various documents.  This includes work from my course Collection Care and Management where there are labs of constructing artifact boxes, putting labels on objects, filling our a condition report, and evaluating a current museum's collection management policy document.  There is also a document from my Preventive Conservation course where it discusses the proper preventive care of oil paintings.  The final document is an image of a 3D model exhibit that was created for my course Exhibit Planning and Design.  I was responsible for creating an exhibit about a museum that would be able to use in the Basile Gallery at the Herron School of Art + Design.

Civic Engagement Work

The civic engagement work that I have been involved in has been conducted recently in an event called "Creating the Equitable Museum: How are we doing?". For this event we collaborated with Modupe Labode who is a curator at the National Museum of American History.  This event was hosted via Zoom and included a keynote speech from Labode accompanied with breakout rooms discussing various topics covered in the keynote.  This event revolved around civic engagement and was meant to act as an event that fostered discussing these relevant and important topics of equity in museums.  This is an example of the civic engagement work that I have been involved in.
